This Week’s Fun & Fancy Word Is:

You got your anglophiles (people who love all things British), your bibliophiles (people who just can’t get enough books), and your audiophiles (folks who are enthusiastic about high-quality music reproduction). There’s also the pyrophiles. No, that isn’t someone with an irresistible impulse to watch something burn – that’s a pyromaniac. But pyrophiles do love a good fire. Whether it’s the household-warming version in the fireplace, or the celebratory fireworks that light up the sky on noteworthy occasions.

Etymology:
Origin of Pyrophile

The prefix pyro- has a predecessor in the Greek pyr meaning “fire.” The suffix phile originates from the Greek philos, which means lover or enthusiast of a specific thing. Put them together and you’ve got pyrophile, a lover of fire.
